Tea Estate was established in 1876 by a Scotsman, who, the
same year, sold his grant to Rai Bahadur Kali Prosad Chaliha,
the founder of one of the pioneering tea families in Assam.
The Rai Bahadur, and successive generations of management,
following the principle of quality-oriented manufacture, have
made Banamalie Tea Estate a 'premium mark' at the Auctions -
among the discerning buyers of quality teas.
Estate, located in the heartland district of Sibsagar in Upper Assam,
a planted area of 180 hectares. Located, as it is, in the
middle of a fine quality growing belt, the Estate mainly sells
it teas through the Auctions in Guwahati and Kolkata,
producing approximately 3,00,000 kilos of C.T.C Tea purchased, for it's distinctly
brisk, naturally raspberry-flavored, full-bodied cups. Banamalie
Tea Estate has consistently placed in the top 10 gardens (by
average) in the Guwahati Tea Auction Center the last 12 years,
making it among the most highly sought black CTC teas anywhere
in the world.
Estate recently celebrated 125 years of it's existence by
launching it's retail line of pure, unblended Banamalie teas
in 100g, 250g and 500g packs. This is in line with our
endeavor to provide to the end consumer quality tea the way it
is meant to be - garden fresh, and pure - a concept that
ensures no distinction between the cup we make and the one you
welcome you to Banamalie.com.
